Kia ora (Hello),

My name is Mikayla Mary (she/her pronouns).

While I hold a range of qualifications, professional titles, and credentials, I identify as a human first and a trauma therapist second.

As a human, I am a creative, a dreamer, a planner, an organiser, and a deep thinker and feeler. I am also a proud daughter, sister, aunty and fur mum to my dog, Poppy. I find joy in connection, creativity, and moments of stillness, but like many, my path has also been shaped by deep depression, trauma and violence.

My moments of personal success, celebration and joy are part of my story, but so too are the times I’ve struggled, hit rock bottom and embarked on the long and complex journey of healing. These experiences have profoundly influenced not only who I am but also the way I approach my work as a therapist.

My professional practice is rooted in transparency and authenticity. I know firsthand that healing is not a straight path but a winding, evolving journey. Life after trauma and violence is possible, it can be vibrant, meaningful and deeply fulfilling. My own lived experience has informed my academic specialisations and allows me to meet my clients with empathy, compassion and a deep understanding of the messy and magical parts of healing.

As a therapist, I don’t promise quick fixes, because I know true, lasting healing takes time. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, tools and guidance as you navigate your unique journey. Together, we’ll honour the richness of your experiences and explore the possibilities of a life beyond trauma, one filled with connection, joy and hope.
